On Tuesday last, we celebrated the last day before Lent begins. Shrove Tuesday was traditionally an opportunity for people to use up their store of sugar and luscious foods as they prepared for the forty days of fasting that begin on Ash Wednesday. We take this opportunity to remind ourselves to be more reflective, thoughtful and considerate in all that we do. We try to consider taking on a positive habit or a positive action for the season of Lent. Perhaps we could help out at home. Perhaps we might try to show greater kindness to someone who in our class who needs a friend. Perhaps we will try to work harder at something which we find challenging. The season of Lent is like a new broom sweeping the house clean; we take time to reflect and look forward. As we do, we enjoy some pancakes with our teachers and friends and say thanks for all the wonderful joys we share together.
