Mrs Kitt has played a central role in the Huntstown area for many years, first as a parent and subsequently as a Special Needs Assistant. She leaves our school having helped, guided and supported so many students. She has left an indelible mark on the lives of her colleagues, showing us all the value of kindness, compassion and good humour.
Mr Dempsey became principal of our school eight years ago and has in that time, supported many school initiatives and projects. He has worked hard to support students with special needs and has enhanced the facilities in the school with a new pitch, playground and classrooms.
The ceremony which was held in the school hall, saw all children in the school gather to celebrate and pay tribute to our friends and colleagues. The incredible choir, led by Ms Donohoe and Ms Murray, performed a wide range of songs. The 'Green and Red of Mayo' was performed to the delight of Mrs Kitt and a medley of 'Joseph' songs appealed enormously to Mr Dempsey.
A number of presentations were made to our esteemed guests of honour. Caricatures, golf clubs, photo books and funky ties were just some of the wonderful gifts. We also listened attentively to moving tributes by students, staff, parents and invited guests.
We wish both Mrs Kitt and Mr Dempsey all the very best as they head to pastures new. We have been so lucky to enjoy the benefits of their talents over the years and we know that the school, while sad to see them leave, will be nourished and inspired by their contribution in the years to come.
