The resulting cakes are both frightening and tasty. We are so lucky in our school to enjoy treats like these as part of our learning.
Ms Barry and her first class boys and girls were busy making these spooky rice krispie buns this morning. They were exploring procedural writing and used the opportunity to outline the steps in making the buns. It involved melting chocolate, mixing the rice krispies and decorating with eyes and marshmallows.
The resulting cakes are both frightening and tasty. We are so lucky in our school to enjoy treats like these as part of our learning. Mr Burke is leading a group of sixth class students in the Junior Achievement Awards. It is an opportunity for our boys and girls to show innovation and creativity in the area of enterprise. This helps them to prepare for the changing world of work. Most of our boys and girls will be employed in areas such as Science and Technology, which is fast paced and always changing. Preparing them now to succeed later is a visionary move and we are grateful to Mr Burke for his hard work.
We are delighted to find so many of our boys and girls participating in the annual 'Team Hope' shoe box appeal. Lots of boys and girls around the world have limited resources and are in need of cheer and kindness. It is wonderful that our students recognise that they can help make the world a better place for everyone by sharing what they have with others.
The shoe box is wrapped in Christmas wrapping paper and then filled with toys and treats for boys and girls of different ages. It is then sent overseas where it will brighten the life of another boy or girl and his / her family. Thank you to Ms. Murray for coordinating this important event. The boys and girls are dressing up for Halloween today and are joined by some rather scary looking staff members too. We always love to see the innovative ideas, especially when students make their own costumes.
We also extend the tradition of playing Halloween games, many of which were played by parents, grandparents and great grandparents. We remind everyone to enjoy their Halloween celebrations at home. In doing so, it is important to be safe and stay away from bonfires. We hope to see everyone back at school on Monday 5 November, rested and rejuvenated for the months ahead. Our school has thankfully not felt any adverse effects from storm Callum. A full inspection of the school grounds was carried out this morning and we are happy to receive students this morning as usual. Children should be in their classrooms at 8.50am, ready for a happy and fun day of learning.
