We are delighted to announce that the school has received the Digital Schools of Distinction Award. Dublin West Education centre supports the initiative and following a detailed analysis of our school and the approach we take to using ICT in the classroom, the evaluators agreed that our school is deserving of its award. It is an enormous honour for everyone in Huntstown and highlights our commitment to being a school for the twenty first century, willing to embrace the use of technology to learn, grow and explore the world. Well done to everyone involved in securing the award for the school.
Funds raised by the teaching staff in Scoil an Chroí Ró Naofa Íosa helped to purchase these sleeping bags for the homeless. Our photograph shows students and teachers presenting the sleeping bags to students from Old Bawn Community School in Tallaght. It is wonderful to witness the giving and caring nature of our school community. Well done to everyone who was involved.
We are delighted to report that boys and girls from third, fifth and sixth classes will participate in a Christmas carol performance on Friday 11 December in the Bank of Ireland Blanchardstown. Our wonderful choir is directed by Ms Donohoe and Mr Sullivan who have prepared the boys and girls to perform to a very high standard. The children will travel to the Blanchardstown branch by bus and will perform a selection of Christmas carols and hymns for the customers. It is a great opportunity for the children to showcase their talents and we are all immensely proud of them for taking part. Well done to everyone who is involved.
We have worked very hard over the last year to secure a yellow flag for diversity in our school. We were delighted to learn that the flag will be delivered to the school in the new year and we look forward to celebrating its arrival. Thank you to the diversity committee, whose members have supported and encouraged us to engage with the programme. Every day we are reminded to take part in the language challenge. Boys and girls speak to us in different languages and remind us to celebrate the rich diversity of culture and experience that we are fortunate to enjoy here in Huntstown. Beir bua gach duine.
