The school received its latest flag during a ceremony held in the Helix in DCU. Well done to all involved.
We are proud to announce that we have secured another green flag for our school. The green flag awards recognise and celebrate schools that show respect for our environment. Over the past ten years, Ms Lucey has been unrelenting in her dedication to the Green Flag Awards, assembling a team of students who work hard to reduce our carbon footprint and increase our green endeavours. We recycle as much of our waste as possible. We re-use materials where appropriate and we always try to reduce our waste. Our water conservation activities have resulted in a significant reduction in the volume of water being used in the school. This year we introduced a bio diversity initiative which aims to introduce wildlife to our school.
The school received its latest flag during a ceremony held in the Helix in DCU. Well done to all involved. We were so proud of our sixth class boys and girls, who were successful at the recent Bizworld competition. Held in the hallowed surroundings of Trinity College, the ceremony celebrated the energy and enthusiasm of our students and their teacher Mr Hanley. Over the past few months, the students have worked to develop a profitable and innovative enterprise, learning skills of organisation, management and reciprocity. They worked collaboratively to pitch a sound business idea, based on extensive market research. The students were praised for the quality of their presentation and the power of their delivery. On Monday 29 May we were so excited to welcome, Dr Rollo Dilworth to the school. A choral director and musician of considerable note, Dr Dilworth is chair of Music Education and Music Therapy at the Boyer College of Music and Dance, Temple University in Philadelphia. A professor of choral music education, Dr Dilworth is responsible for arranging countless pieces of music and has wowed audiences, academics and scholars around the world with his passion for choral music and his enviable talents for transforming choral music. His passion for music was fostered early in his life when he performed in church and these initial experiences shaped his musical talents. He brings vibrancy and energy to his conducting and inspired our boys and girls with all that can be achieved through music. He spoke to them about how they might enhance their choral performance and gave them a master class. Few schools in the country would have the opportunity to experience this wonderful sharing of talents. We are so fortunate to share our talents with Dr Dilworth and have him, inspire and energise us with his music.
This week we are celebrating our Intercultural heritage. The students have created projects on countries, faiths and traditions and have placed them in our P.E hall. It is a festival of colour and creativity. Every day, the students visit the hall to learn from these projects. A huge amount of work has been invested by all involved. Well done. Please visit the gallery page to get a flavour of the creativity on display.
Congratulations to the boys and girls in second class who received the sacrament of Holy Communion on Saturday last. The ceremony was held in our neighbouring parish church in Hartstown this year owing to the fire damage to our own church. We thank the community of Hartstown for the warm and genuine welcome. Thank you also to the teachers and staff who helped to prepare the boys and girls. This is an important step in their faith journey and we were delighted to share in it on Saturday.

Congratulations to the Scoil an Chroí Ró Naofa Íosa staff choir on being crowned Workplace Choir of the Year Winners 2017!
A group of twenty staff members, including teachers, SNAs and our school secretary, came together to form a choir recently and decided to enter the Workplace Choir of the Year competition for the first time. Under musical director Ms. Donohoe and choral director Ms. Murray they performed two pieces for the competition; The Long Day Closes and a Beatles medley entitled A Hard Week's Love. The competition was of an extremely high standard with each of the twenty choirs performing beautifully. Our choir were delighted to qualify from their semi final to perform in the final in the University Concert Hall in the University of Limerick last night and were ecstatic to be named as the overall winners of the competition! Well done and congratulations to all involved. Watch this space for details of an upcoming concert in the school starring our National Children's Choir group, the cast of our recent school musical Back to the 80's and now the Workplace Choir of the Year! Best of luck to the boys who will be playing in the Fingal League final (Boys Division 3) on Tuesday next, 16 May at 11am. We are so proud of the team and we look forward to welcoming as many supporters as possible. Please come to cheer on the boys. They are representing their community in such a positive way. Well done.
The boys and girls in sixth class are receiving the sacrament of Confirmation today. It is an exciting day for the children and their families. The ceremony is being held in our sister church in Hartstown owing to the building works currently underway in our own church. The reception will be held in the school after the ceremony.
