http://www.draiocht.ie/events/month/2014/02 The school closes for Christmas Holidays on Friday 20th December at 12 noon. All children will go home at this time. We return to school on Monday 6 January 2014.
Enjoy the holidays everyone. Nelson Mandela (Madiba) died on Thursday 5 December in his home country of South Africa. An incredible man, Mandela played an important role in the struggle for equality and peace in South Africa. His legacy will live on and his passing is a great loss not only to his family but to the world. Having spent many years in prison on Robben he emerged to lead his country with a spirit of dignity, tolerance and compassion. Eric Lowndes from St Peregrine's GAA club visited the school on Friday 6 December to talk to the students and show them the Sam Maguire Cup. We were delighted to dress in blue and navy and wave our flags in celebration. Eric spoke about the hard work involved in becoming an All Ireland winning medalist. He spoke too about the honour of representing both his club and his county. The captivated audience was delighted to share in the excitement of the occasion. Members of the student council asked questions and the football teams made a guard of honour to welcome Eric to the school. |
