A parachute jump was organised which went on to raise €12,954. It was incredible to see a former student, Niamh Devine donning her parachute and taking to the skies. She was joined by our special needs assistant Laura Dempsey, a number of parents and members of the 'Eir Graduate Programme'. On a bright, dry Saturday, the team of brave jumpers headed to Clonbullogue in Offaly, determined to suit up and jump fearlessly through the open skies of the midlands. It is a true testament to the valour of these incredible people that they managed to set nerves aside and leap with abandon, all in the name of our school. We are immensely proud of them all and we would like to sincerely thank Ms Jones for using her boundless energy and enthusiasm to support our school community. Our photograph shows Ms Jones presenting Mr Lyons with the cheque for €12,954. Sincerest thanks.
We are always inspired by the support we receive in Huntstown from willing parents, staff, former students and community activists. We are in deep gratitude to Ms Ciara Jones, a parent in our school, who has worked tirelessly to raise funds for the school and awareness of Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Her son Gavin is a student in Rebecca's Coisceim class. This year she spearheaded a number of campaigns. At Christmas she organised a 'Sparkle ball' which realised €18,000 for the charity 'As I am' and our school. This was a most successful evening of entertainment. It helped to draw greater attention to the needs of students with A.S.D and was an inspiring and emotional experience for all involved.
